Ralink's rt3090 inferno
Sony Vaio PCG-21313M Wireless installation on ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) applications codenames sux a lot!
This Sony Vaio have a Ralink 3090 as wireless device, ubuntu have this device under modules rt2860, but the default installation adds the versions standard an pci, this computer uses a pcie interface... result: wireless working, but losing packets and hangs on powerdown etc...
The solution is really easy, simply add pci and usb versions out of the box with blacklist
create the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-wireless.conf as root with following contents:
blacklist rt2800pci
blacklist rt2x00usb
blacklist rt2x00pci
And later, edit the file /etc/modules and force the loading of standard version of module:
rt2860sta
Voila :) good feelings come!
